What's Everyone's Favorite Chemo Music?

Postby aussielones » Tue May 29, 2012 7:19 pm

Hi Everyone!

I'm sitting in chemo this morning listening to my iPod, and I've realised (after 19 chemo's and countless avastin) that music helps me so much...listening to Beastie Boys 'Ch-Check it Out' while they're hooking me up, and I feel so great! Really pumps me up and I didn't even need Valium this morning. I might lose my hearing by the end of the week though, I just loaded all of my Beastie Boys CDs onto my iPod.

What's everyone's favorite chemo music? Or even just music you like to listen to when you're feeling sick.

I Wanna Be Sedated by the Ramones.

And if you only listen to the chorus and not the other lyrics I loved "I am extraodinary" by Liz Phair.

I am extraordinary
If you'd ever get to know me

I am extraordinary
I am just your ordinary, average, everyday, sane, psycho, supergoddess

Mike is a huge music lover, but since diagnosis... there is just something about Daughtry. He listens to him constantly!! I wish I could tell Chris Daughtry how much his music has been a part of Mike's journey so far.

I don't have an IPod but I listen to classic rock on the way to chemo. Nothing like a little Stones, ACDC or "Long Cool Woman" to get you into battle mode.
I usually listen to soft rock afterwards 'cause I'm pooped and don't feel like rockin' it out anymore for the day.

I keep on thinking about a CRC playlist

"Strong reaction" by Pegboy is definitely on there for Chemo effectiveness ;-)

Shawn Phillips.....hands down! I loaded all 174 Shawn Phillips songs that I had on my iPod/iPhone, and went through treatments with my earphones in. Shawn's music has gotten me through some of the toughest times in my life since 1972. He keeps me focused on what really matters and helps me see beyond the moment.

I love anything rastafarian during chemo it keeps me "up" and being older than dirt I still love Fleetwood Mac. Military sounds kinda cool though.

Two thumbs up for Gregorian chants they lull and sooth in a very unusual way. Thanks for reminding me.

James Taylor...."carolina in my mind". one of my favorite places to vacation, the outer banks of north carolina. On the harder rock side, "for those about to rock" by ACDC when I'm headed for chemo gets me pumped up.
