Terry Update 6/21/12

Postby Terry » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:31 pm

This is Terrys daughters, and we just wanted to post an update.

Our mom is coming home today from the hospital. Hospice is bringing her a hospital bed, to make her more comfortable. They have her pain controlled with morphine and a phentynol patch. She is confused, and a little goofy from all the meds. She has been sleeping a lot, and says shes numb to the entire situation. The doctors just want to make sure she is comfortable in her last days-weeks she has left. She continues to have trouble with drinking and eating from all the mucus in her chest and throat. We appreciate all the continued support and prayers from all of you, and our mother appreciates it as well.

We will keep you updated.

Thank you,
Holly and Shana

Holly & Shana,
Thank you so much for letting us know what's going on!! God bless you both abundantly and know she and the family are in my prayers daily (sometimes several times a day). Give her the gentlest hug from her Colon Club and FB buddies, if you can.
God bless ~

Holly and shana,
You two are angels and u probably don't even know it. I know how hard this is on ur family, but we r your family too and if u ever need to talk to any of us, we r here for you. I am glad the pains under control for ur mother, Ther is nothing worse than watching a love one go thru so much pain and suffering. God is with her and will take good care of her till u see her again someday. I hope ur still able to make some good memoriies and have a few laughs once u get home. Still prayIng for ur entire family and Terry. She is a wonderful mom, wife and friend. I did not have the chance to know her as well as others, but she helped me, when I was lost a few times and I am thankful for everyone on this board as there is no other place I feel I can turn to.

Hugs and love to you both,

Lisa

Thanks for the 'Update' Terry has been through so much, and I remember her being so nice to me!

I don't know for sure but I Imagine she is on breathing treatments?!

It has been way back in 05 when my Spouse had throat cancer and then a Laryngectomy! He had a lot of very thick Mucus in is throat and lungs. I had to suction him several times a day.
Terry does not have a hole in her throat so it may be harder to suction?

My doctor gave us Mucomyst. (A terrible smell) It worked so well in thinning the mucus. There was no more gagging and he could eat and drink pretty much OK.
I still had to suction him, but it made it so much easier.

Just a thought for you to maybe ask about and it may help her also.

All the best to your family and of course Terry. I think of all of you daily.

Thanks girls for the update. I know how difficult it must be for you all. I will miss your mother very much as I consider her a great friend. Terry always stepped up to the plate to support others, when she was so ill herself.

The hospital bed is one of the best things that hospice can do for a patient.
Hope she's enjoying the morphine loopiness, it's always been a good time for me.
Please let her know that her fight is an inspiration to all of us in advance stages.

Holly and Shana,

Thank you for letting us know about your mom. She has always been there when anyone was in need of advice. I just wish there was a different outcome to this. I continue to think and prayer for her each day as I know she would for me. I wish you peace and strength.
