Does anyone else go on that forum? I sometimes just lurk. I was on there just now boy there are some nasty people on there not very encouraging at all!! The people on here are so much nicer!! This is by far the best club ever!!

Sometimes I surf CSN when I'm bored or I can't sleep. It's a bit Pollyanna for me although sometimes their arguments get pretty amusing. I never post - just surf. This group fits my personality much better.

Cancer Survivors Network (I think - I keep wanting to call it CSI). It's the chat group on the American Cancer Society web-site; they have a separate group for each type of cancer. The Colo-rectal group is pretty big/active - lots of folks there.

I checked it out early in my diagnosis and it didn't have nearly the knowledgeable participants as this group. I've always appreciated the intelligence of the participants here, the level headed responses, and also the caring. After a few surfing visits over at CSN I decided I didn't like it and have never gone back. The Colon Club is the only one for me!

I tried CSN early on and I just felt like I was not ever invited to the "Party", it was almost like newcomers were not welcome, I just did not get warm and fuzzies over there and I still pop in once a year and get the same feeling. In fact I do not think I have surfed in there at all this year!

This is MY HOME now, so I will stay here!

I read and post there most often. Occassionally there are some heated arguments regarding traditional versus nontraditional treatments. It doesn't bother me. Families fight and after you post for so long, it begins to feel like a family. I would recommend using both boards. I always figure the more information, the better. Lisa

I used to lurk on the CSN board, but never posted. I'm not as comfortable over there as I am here. I'm with NWgirl...this board fits my personality better here.

This board occasionally has its moments as far as people fussing at each other, but I also noticed that the CSN forums are a lot more contentious, a lot more frequently.

There's also something about the layout of the board there that makes it hard to follow the conversations going on.

I don't post here a lot, but I read a lot and something about this group seems like more of an online family - a group of people who like each other and would probably mostly get along in real life too.

I joined the CSN board the same time as this one and I go on there right after being on this one. It's definitely different. There has been a big uproar there this last week which has not been nice. However, I admit that I have learned a lot on that board and have made some friends that I now email privately.
Just like the treatment we choose, to each his own (in terms of forum boards).

Yeah, been there and read some of the posts. We all have a monster common to all of us causing stress in our daily life, we do not need rude, crude and downright nasty posts to add more stress. One should express a point of view without getting attacked rudely. I did not see that kind of rudeness in this forum, and hope it never happens. Direct the energy toward the beast and not against each other.

I cruised a bit last night but not registered. I agree the post format is a bit clunky for my liking, the "drama" with some folks and lack of respect with some others is sad. I see some of "our" folks there and also noted two long time regulars were getting browbeaten and threatened ??? to the point of leaving ! Lots of good folks too I assume, from some threads I saw.
Who moderates that forum ? They could do a better job of the "human" side if they had the resources I guess.
My opinion : I generally don't like online forums and only ever joined two. One is a martial arts forum where there is NO drama or rudeness and no egos, the other is the ColonClub, which I feel has no equal as a support forum.

I couldn't sleep last night so I surfed the CSN board as well as many other web-sites (REALLY couldn't sleep!). I was sad to see a couple of long time members on the CSN board who felt the need to leave over the disagreements on alternative medicine. Whether you're for it, against it or somewhere in between, these two particular people (IMO) seemed to have made educated decisions regarding their treatment. There doesn't seem to be a lot of people out there who have really researched these alternatives thoroughly and I thought they had. They never seemed to preach their choices, but were there as information sources if asked - as respects their own personal choices and treatments. It's sad to see such good resources lost to bickering and worse yet, personal attacks.

Disagreements come with the territory, but I thought the moderators should have stepped in and put an end to that particular thread before it got so out of hand. Sounds like there was history there, but my attention span is too short to dig up old threads to see what it was.
