I know I'm a little (a lot) late to the game, and I hope you don't mind if I chime in. For some reason, following my cancer diagnosis, the song "Sing" by Travis, really resonated with me.

Here are a few of my favorites:

I Will Be Here - Steven Curtis Chapman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1KsGtMZ9HI&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=AVGxdCwVVULXclJxmEpP89SQigPpa470ic

Celebrate Me Home - Kenny Loggins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRu-eAdZ050&feature=related I've been telling people for years that I want this song played at my funeral. There are a lot of ways to think about the words.

I Don't Want To Miss A Thing - Aerosmith https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8v626CMvM5Q

We are the champions - Adam Lambert & Kris Allen & Queen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6Jgx3vjK3E I kind of like this version and am a shameless American Idol fan since season 1. A song of strength and triumph.

Sugar Town - Zooey Deschanel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAhdKu44wr8 I remember the Nancy Sinatra singing this one and over the years it's always made me feel happy. After seeing "500 Days of Summer" I couldn't help but like this version just a tiny bit better.

Stand in the rain by superchick.

Lyrics

"Stand In The Rain"

She never slows down.
She doesn't know why but she knows that when she's all alone, feels like its all coming down
She won't turn around
The shadows are long and she fears if she cries that first tear, the tears will not stop raining down

[CHORUS]
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain

She won't make a sound
Alone in this fight with herself and the fears whispering if she stands she'll fall down
She wants to be found
The only way out is through everything she's running from wants to give up and lie down.

[CHORUS]
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain

Thanks for this "cappy".....kind of reminds me of justsing and her motto about "not waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to dance in the rain !"

Walking tunes

"But I feel good" by Groove Armada

"Feel Good Inc" Gorillaz - I really like the D-Sides version to motivate those long walks and convince myself that I do feel good.

"Save me" By Jem - gotta love that reggae beat

Bela Fleck and the Fleck tones - I only have a couple of their songs but I love them. A recommendation I got from a guy I met on the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria. He got on the bus with a guitar and that was it - we talked on the bus, through lunch and on the ferry and all about music.

"1259 Lullably" Bedouin Soundclash

Sad but relevant (for me) tunes

"Hope There's Someone" Anthony and the Johnsons

"Will you Remember me" Jan Arden

"I Will Remember You" Sarah McLachlan - I sang this at a friend's funeral. I finally got to the point where I could sing it again, without crying, and I got diagnosed. Needless to say, it's off the singling list and back on the listening list.

Just for the sheer silliness of it "Red Solo Cup" by one of my all time favorite country-western singers - Toby Keith. You have to You-Tube this and watch the video - it can't help but make you laugh and smile! No - nothing to do with cancer, just a really silly/funny song!

Just remembered one of my favorites...

WARREN ZEVON
"Keep Me In Your Heart"
(Warren Zevon & Jorge Calderon)

Shadows are falling and I'm running out of breath
Keep me in your heart for awhile

If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less
Keep me in your heart for awhile

When you get up in the morning and you see that crazy sun
Keep me in your heart for awhile

There's a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sometimes when you're doing simple things
around the house
Maybe you'll think of me and smile

You know I'm tied to you like the buttons on
your blouse
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams
Touch me as I fall into view
When the winter comes keep the fires lit
And I will be right next to you

Engine driver's headed north to Pleasant Stream
Keep me in your heart for awhile

These wheels keep turning but they're running out
of steam
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Keep me in your heart for awhile

I was thinking of this thread when I stumble on a new song by Jason Mraz. It helped when I got in scan anxiety mood this month.

Living in the moment
...
"I will not waste my days
Thinking up all kinds of ways
to worry about all the things
That will not happen to me

So I'll just let go of what I know I don't know"

Hopefully we can all find a little peace in our hearts.

Stronger by Kelley Clarkson

Kids

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihGCj5mfCk8

Or the one by Megan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaQdwTsVtCY

You know the bed feels warmer
Sleeping here alone
You know I dream in color
And do the things I want

You think you've got the best of me
Think you've had enough the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
Baby, you don't know me, 'cause you're dead wrong

Chorus:
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes you fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over 'cause you're gone
