John603 has passsed away

Postby John603 » Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:07 am

I am so profoundly sorry to bring you this news. John lost his battle with this horrible disease last week. He gave it his all for three years and seven and a half months. He was at home with me, as was his wish. Hospice was more helpful than we ever imagined they could be. His family has been unbelievable with me and the children.

He thought of this group as an extended family and wanted me to let you know that. He loved helping every one of you. I wish I had his bank of knowledge so I could answer your questions, but I don't. He was so very intelligent. And so amazingly funny. Never lose your sense of humor, he would want me to tell you all that.

His wish for all of you is that you fight long enough to be the ones to benefit from better treatments, or even a cure. He did feel that there were several things being studied that had great promise. That is why he fought so hard, so he could be here to see any one of them make it to the patients. So, I too hope that all of you fight and see that day, a day that I hope comes very soon.

Take good care of yourselves and of each other, John would want that.

Live well,

John's wife, Linda

Oh Linda, I'm am so very sorry. I'm at a loss for words as anything I could say would be so insignificant compared to what you are going through. John was a great inspiration to many of us and I'm glad that he had his last days at home with you. Our hearts are with you in this great time of grief.

Oh Linda, I'm so sorry to hear this. Even when we expect it, there is a terrible loss here. John was a fantastic man indeed, so helpful, welcoming, and funny as hell :). We will miss him tremendously. I'm glad Hospice was able to assist you and your family, they can be such a blessing. In the end, let me say that my thoughts and prayers are with your family as you grieve and I hope his passing can be bearable for you. Take care Linda and remember we will always be here for you.

I am so very sorry, Linda. I have been thinking and praying for John and your family. He was one of the first people to reply to my original posting when I first joined CC. He was an inspiritation to us all. He will be sorely missed. I loved reading his posts. He was an intelligent man and had a great sense of humor. I'm sure he's giving great advice up in heaven! :)

John was very lucky to have you and even though it's hard to lose someone you love, he is at peace now.

Linda ~ know we are here for you if you ever need to talk.

My condolences to you and your family...

Dear Linda and family, I am so very sorry to hear this news and my heart breaks for your family. I have read so many of Johns posts and they were always so inspirational and helpful to everyone here. When I think of the Colon Club, he is always one of the first people I think of and I will miss seeing his wonderful words of wisdom. This is a very sad day.

May your wonderful memories bring you comfort in the difficult days ahead. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy,

Dear Linda,

I send you love and my deepest sympathy at the passing of your beloved John. I can only echo what everyone has said. An amazing, compassionate, incredibly strong and intelligent man. He taught many of us "how to do it". I pray you and the kids wil find some peace during this terrible time.

Stop by anytime. You are well-loved here.

One of the many things that impressed me about John was not only his honesty, but his optimism, which he seemed to maintain to the end.

We've all lost a good friend, and I know we all mourn his loss.
