Finally Checked Out My CT Images

Postby BrownBagger » Sun Jul 11, 2010 1:49 pm

They handed me a disk of my scans after my last CT and I stuck it on a shelf at home because I really didn't want to look at and get freaked out before getting the results from my doctor. And then, when the results looked kind of bad, I didn't really want to look at them, either. Now, with news that whatever that thing is on my lung, it's probably not a tumor, I finally decided to relax and check out the pics.

Pretty cool. My understanding of anatomy is pretty rudimentary, but clicking through the hundreds of image slides is fascinating. After awhile, it's easier to pick out individual organs. The bones look pretty neat as well.

One question: Where's my penis? It's not like I expected it to dominate the scans (though that would be nice), but it's not even visible. Glad the tech was a guy.

Hi Eric:

Well, where the heck is CR today??? I have literally been trying to think of some smart ass thing to say for hours, and I got nothin'!!! Usually when you, Fletch or CR posts something there are a deluge of responses within minutes :) :) :) Your question about no penis on your CT, pretty much no one has anything to say about that provocative question!

Could it be that you have "touched" on something that has had everyone scurrying off?

To think you have a penis! Or do you?

Yeah, I do. It's gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion.

I think everyone's out enjoying this beautiful weather.

Must be unusually *soft* tissue :D or something so it didn't show on the scan. I've never been offered a disk with the images but one of my radiologists is in my poker group so I may have to ask him about it. Glad to hear the lungs are clean.

Hey! Tim is really funny, too! I cannot believe that Fletch has not checked in on this. I am strangely disappointed

Fletch is nursing a major hangover from his "beer tent" excursion last night. CRG is probably crashing following his latest infusion and dex letdown, or he's out on the town in Vancouver (which must be absolutely beautiful this time of year--as all others). I spent the afternoon getting the garden squared away. Didn't even take a bike ride. My babies needed me.

I wouldn't say the lungs are exactly "clean," Tim, but they apparently don't contain any tumors. That kind of made my weekend.

Damnit, you beat me to it :D

Sorry I'm late to the party, I've actually not really been nursing a hangover, despite drinking 64 ounces of delicious beer last night. I have instead become a slave to the structure commonly known as "my house". Anyway Eric, I'm not sure what the problem is, mine shows up plain as day in my scan... You can see it right after the femurs come into focus. Maybe you need some reading glasses or something? ;)

Ok, that was a low blow, I admit it. I will say though it can be hard to notice depending on the way it's resting during the scan. Did you get horizontal slices, vertical slices, or both? It's easier to see in the horizontal ones ;)

I personally can't wait to see my most recent scan pics. Will be nice to see what Fletch 2.0 looks like without abnormalities

Well Eric, my best guess would be that your first thought that perhaps it may dominate the image just may be correct, therefore, they thought it best to "airbrush" it out, so not to distract from viewing the other "organs"!!

I love this forum, although there is much sadness, there are also the posts that put a smile on our faces!!

So glad to hear the lung thingy doesn't look serious!! I wish I had had the desire to look at my pictures when my onc would bring them up on the screen....I always looked away and would just let him describe them to me!! I am such a chicken!!!

All the best!!

I've got a cornball sense of humor, I know, but I find it helpful to always try to see some humor in difficult situations. Just another perspective.

Good for you for bein' able to identify most of your body parts on the CT pic. I have a CD as well...and other than my pelvis, ribs and backbone...I can't identify much. BUT I will tell you that my boobs are visible!
And they are SOFT tissue....so.....

Ha! Ivona's boobs trump Eric's penis. I mean, I don't want to go off "half-cocked" and make assumptions, or anything, but maybe it was unusually cold in the radiology dept during your scan?
