Here are some questions that are extremely confusing. When my husband was first diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer nobody mentioned remission, but hoped he would live long and have NED for several years. We just got back from MD Anderson for a check and at this point he has no signs of cancer, but does have spots in the lungs that they seem to think is non-cancerous.
We were told if the spots don't change for two years then they will be considered benign. Then if he is NED for five years from last chemo treatment then that is considered remission.
Here is the confusion: If it is considered incurable then how can he ever be considered in remission? I am so confused about this.
My husband does not have life insurance, so then the question is if he is in remission with stage IV colon cancer would he be eligible in the sense that earlier staged survivors are?
