Thought we could use a little good news. I just got back from meeting with my oncologist to go over my 3 month scan. All clear. My CEA is at an all time low of .2 (it was 2.8 at diagnosis - so it's never been high for me). Also had my mammogram last week - also clear.
He wants to continue with 3 month scans this first year because I'm still pretty high risk for a recurrence, which I'm grateful for. After the 1 year mark, he'll go to scans every 6 months. I am a little low on Vitamin D (that was tested too) so he recommended I take a supplement for that.
I scheduled my next scan for the end of August (so almost the 4 month mark) because I want to enjoy my summer fully without having to worry about my next scan. Of course I'll still worry to some extent (don't we all?) - but for now, I feel like I've just been given a "get out of jail free" card for the summer.
Ironically, as I pulled into the grocery store on my way home to pick up a few things, that Tim McGraw song "Live Like You Were Dying" came on the radio. I don't plan on sky diving, Rocky Mountain Climbing or bull riding - but I do plan on enjoying my garden, my friends, my family and all that summer has to offer. Hope you are all able to do the same.
