pictures of my stoma!

Postby cynnycal » Tue Oct 24, 2006 5:51 pm

cute as a button i tell ya.
http://www.cancer-sucks.com/rebecca/sto ... overed.jpg (that's the bandage i wear when not 'using' it)
http://www.cancer-sucks.com/rebecca/sto ... vealed.jpg (that's it all uncovered)
http://www.cancer-sucks.com/rebecca/sto ... closer.jpg (a closer view)

the dark spot near the white bandage is where they excized a desmoid (benign) tumor. and the white bandage is covering the incision scar b/c i had an infection in it so they're packing it every day.

i just thought i'd share my battle wounds with you guys. i know you all can appreciate them! hehehehe...
sssooooo...am i 'colonder girl' material or what?
(by the way, i have a k-pouch or koch pouch and am three weeks post-op)

aw gosh golly gee....
hehehehe...
actually, since the day i found this site i wanted to be a colonder model, but so much was up in the air about what kind of surgery i would be getting. i had no idea what my stomach was gonna look like.
now that all is said and done...i would LOVE to be a model.
you'll be getting an application soon, definitely.

Thanks for showing this - I have my surgery on Nov 13th and I have low rectal, so I am getting my stoma, too. I will show my kids these photos, as they are more freaked out by that than anything.

Of course, it wouldn't hurt if I had your abs ... I see a colonder modeling stint in your future !

Thanks for the candor -

Jeni

You look great. Modern medicine is amazing. What is next for you in terms of treatment?

thank you thank you thank you!
this site has been the biggest help to me in getting to this point, so i'm happy to share and rather proud of myself actually!

as far as treatment, i still have more chemo to do...just to be safe. but yes, i had low rectal cancer, and not a candidate for the jpouch. they couldnt' preserve the sphincter, so i went for a koch pouch

i know everyones different, but this was the right choice for me.

as for the abs...i consider myself an athlete before all this started (martial arts) and i think it really helped me out ALOT in recovering from the strenuous surgery. (they did a whole lot to me when i was knocked out)
