free travel/lodging for cancer patients

Postby musiclover » Fri Sep 29, 2006 5:42 pm

I know free flights exist for people with cancer - does anyone know off hand who does this? I need to find out pronto. I've found a doctor out of state who will see my friend this Tuesday who does some cutting edge therapy (RFA). Thanks so much!

Call the hospital you'll be heading to and ask to speak with a nurse about it. I think a lot of these type of places are run locally, rather than nationally. (I don't know of anything national, other than Ronald McDonald House, but I think that's just for kids, right?) My hospital has something like that called Amanda's House.

A lot of hospitals also set up deals with local hotels for patients.

Corporate Angel Network

Postby Abby » Fri Sep 29, 2006 6:28 pm

Corporate angel network is one that works with flying people for free. It is made up of business people that own their own plains and fly people on their own dime. We tried to use them when Katrina hit, but they were busy with that disaster, but I have heard good things about them also here is a Web site that I found that has a lot of resources for lodging and travel expenses. Hope this helps and good luck:)
