Happy New Year- checking in, clear scan

Postby mymom » Tue Feb 02, 2021 4:59 pm

Hi all- Happy New Year. My mom just had her scan and it is still clear. Original diagnosis at Stage 4 May 2011. She has been NED since October 2015. She had several mets to the liver. I will also post on main thread. This is a rough time for everyone. Thinking of you all. My husband and my three kids continue to quarantine with my parents. Two separate houses a few miles from each other- we go back and forth for fun, sleepovers with grandparents, movies, sunday dinners. All three of my kids remote learn (9th, 6th and 3rd now) - our town has an option of full in or full out. We chose remote so we can hang with my parents and my kids prefer time with Grandparents. They have given up a lot. They see some friends with masks outside but that is about it. For our family it works. My kids are happy. My parents are beyond thrilled they have been able to ride this pandemic out with us. Love to all, Lisa

So pleased to hear you are all doing well .
My mum’s grandchildren will all officially hit adulthood with the last one turning 16 this month!( U.K.). They have really impressed me in the care they have extended towards their grandparents. Taking care of the garden etc . The youngest takes her grandpa for a walk in keeping with the rules .

So glad your mum is doing well and able to enjoy this unusual time with her grandchildren. It’s interesting to hear your education has given a choice to parents . Ours is fully out just now but proposing to take younger children back soon . They seem to be the most difficult to entertain whilst parents are also trying to work .
Hope this all improves quickly .

Hi Stu- glad to hear you are all doing well. Some states here in the US have full remote. Connecticut chose to give a choice to parents. Our district (Greenwich) is doing a great job with live streaming and dedicated teachers for kids full remote. We are lucky. Those back in school follow strict guidelines and we have entire grades or classes quarantining on a regular basis in town if one child in lets say a 3rd grade class tests positive, the entire class/grade will quarantine two weeks. Sometimes they may say only the positive student and after contract tracing only another five students/teacher need to quarantine. Depends. They contact trace and masks all day except lunch. For us being around my parents we could not take that chance so we just school from the comfort of home. It has it's advantages- kids get a hot lunch every day and on these very snowy cold mornings there is no waiting at the bus stop. Have to look at the positive. Hang in there and take care.
