So Scared

Postby Sonofafighter » Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:24 am

Dad is 2 years post LAR, and on his post op scans showed multiple lung nodules. Been tracking them since, but in the latest scan (6 month interval) - shows significant growth. Its 27mm now from 15mm last time (was stable for prior 3 scans) and PET showed no uptake.

Appointment on Sunday with Onc, I just am so scared and angry and lost. If you see my history of posts I was worried about this situation, but every doctor reassured me these spots are probably nothing. I feel so broken right now, holding back my tears so hard. He lives with mom and brother an hour from me, but i went to all his appointments, emergency admissions, surgeries and the last 18 months was such a relief after hard times. I think i am having major PTSD to the extent i cant breath

What should I ask the Doc ? Needle Biopsy/ PET/CT, if nodule too big for VATS ?

I’m sorry for my earlier panic attack. I had just received the news and didn’t know else to do. I suffer crippling anxiety about this topic.

I realize now I may have offended the journey of so many people who are in Similiar positions and fighting bravely. I’m sorry

If i am right in this being perceived in bad taste, please delete this topic mods , I can’t seem to.
I’m clinging to hope and drawing inspiration from this forum to share with my dad.hoping the doc shares a robust plan this Sunday for next steps.

Again , apologies.

There's no reason to apologize, Sonofafighter! This forum is also here for people to pour their fears and anxieties. Your fear and frustration is totally understandable. I hope you get a good plan of attack from the doc! Lung mets are scary but eminently treatable :)

I’m sorry your dad got bad news—I can totally relate to the rollercoaster feeling of being a caretaker and being terrified of setback after being on the journey and getting this far and hoping it’s all in the past for someone you love so much.

Stay strong for your dad and you can get through this part too. I will let others more knowledgeable comment on the options you should ask about but I do believe there are several options on the table for treatment and all hope is not lost.
