I’ll update in my journal too - but I’m excited enough to warrant a new post.
I had stable scans in August and October and my latest this week at MSK (we drove from Chicago!).
My CT was stable again. When I met with Dr Kemeny, she was pleased, especially because the last 4 cycles I’ve just done 5FU and Vectibix. She said she thought I should continue.
Really? After 3 stable scans and 14 cycles of chemo?
I told her I didn’t want to be on chemo forever - you won’t be, she told me, but maybe a little longer. She thought two more months and then a PET scan.
Then she looked at me and asked when is the last time I had eaten?
She scheduled me for a PET the following morning, and we got the word today: it was normal and she thinks it’s fine to stop chemo.
I have an appt at NW on Monday; hope to talk with them about how best to monitor going forward. She said the “most likely” outcome is that the cancer will come back - perhaps true, but if I believed statistics, I would be dead already! And I sure am happy about a chemo break for Christmas!
