Covid delays

Postby CF_69 » Sat Sep 26, 2020 5:46 pm

Anyone else getting stressed over this?

I’m 6 months late for my 1 year colonoscopy, and I’m due right now for a CT scan, but last thing I heard is that they have a 12 month delay right now.

With Covid cases back on the rise, this has me feeling pretty anxious.

I was able to get a CEA test done a few weeks ago, and it was in the normal range. I can’t remember offhand but it’s in my signature.

I seem to hover around 2.3, but I think my pre radiation CEA was 1.9 ish so I don’t know if it’s an indicator for me.

I’m still in the higher risk window for recurrence. These delays aren’t helping my mental state much.

Wow, where are you? A year delay seems huge! Here in Montana there are no delays at all, but then, we still have very few cases (even though they’re on the rise). I hope you can get scheduled soon!

I’m in Ottawa.

We’re in the “second wave” now. Positive cases going up. Another lockdown would be very bad news.

I don’t know what I can do other than wait. It would suck very much to miss something because of delayed screening.

So sorry you are going thru this Covid delay, so wrong. Have you considered coming to the USA and paying cash for your scope? I believe they charge a reduced rate in situations like that. Butt sorry to add, that could have changed. My advice is coming from people who years age who choice that route, butt Obamacare changed a lot of the medical landscapes.

Good luck,

That is an insane wait time for CTs. Here in Texas we are staying consistent in our current wave (although not as bad) but DH has been able to make all his CT appts no problem. He has had to be tested before the ones in NYC though, makes sense coming from Texas though. I am sorry, this isn't fair to any one, especially cancer patients.

I read on another person’s Twitter about her mother needing to wait 13 months. I haven’t actually been told that by my doctors, though I am due for a CT now and there’s nothing scheduled and I haven’t heard a thing.

I am 6 months overdue for the colonoscopy though, and they did tell me they would get me in whenever they could. No estimated date. Things are extremely backed up. If there is another lockdown or the hospitals do get overwhelmed...I don’t know.

Pretty sure crossing the border is out.

I understand why you are worried and frustrated about these delays, but on the other hand consider that you may being pushed towards the back of the line because you were only stage 2A, you've had adjuvant chemo, and your chances are good for not having a recurrence...if that does any good in lessening your anxiety. :?
