One year into cancer battle

Postby beach sunrise » Sun Aug 16, 2020 3:01 am

One year ago I was planning the day with my mom. It is my sisters birthday ( she had CF and passed when she was 20 yrs old). She was my moms first born so mother to mother I felt that plus the fact that I lost my oldest sister, the coolest girl on the block that I looked up to. Not a day goes by I don't think of her and miss her terribly. Not knowing how the day would end, I started feeling sick and was in serious pain from hemorrhoids that my gp diagnosed 1 1/2 yrs before. Spent the day with my mom and didn't not let on that I felt bad. As soon as I got home I went to bed and fever started. It lasted until I went to ER on the 19th of August. Bam, cancer dx. Now, one year later I am hoping I am still stage III. I am working hard to throw everything at it that I have found to help chemo move some markers in a favorable direction to kill it. Still a long way to go as its a slow process to find what works. Anyways, this is the short story so far one year into it.
This year I am sending lemon lavender cupcakes over to my moms house and she is coming by after church. Strange that we will sit on the porch 6 ft apart.
Anyway, I am grateful for all of you on this forum. There is hope and support here.

Thank you, Stu! I have often thought about how strange it was too. I'm inclined to believe divine intervention because I had been misdiagnosed for so long.

Thank you Darkness Embraced! We did have a good time together. Got to tell this on my mom though. We were porch sitting and talking. A wasp flew towards her head and she half way lost her Sunday wig. It was hilarious!!!
