Recurrence

Postby CMeeks » Thu Sep 21, 2006 4:46 pm

Hi Everyone, especially Molly, Holly, Billie and Sue --

Sue already knows this. Anyway, I wrote in a while ago about my belly button. Holly was correct in prodding me to get it checked right away. It was not just a skin condition. It was a recurrence.

I'm having a full CT Scan tomorrow. I have an appt. with a new onco Wednesday. I will fill you in on the details as I get them. I don't know if this thing is in my liver, lungs, anywhere else. All I know is that, if it came back after only 3 months, it's an aggressive bugger.

I'm sorry I haven't written on here much lately. I was busy moving (to Atlanta) and starting a new job. I read a lot but didn't post much.

I want everyone reading this to remember something. Colon cancer doesn't only go to the liver, kidneys, or lungs. It can, apparently, recur anywhere, including your NAVEL. So if your navel looks funny, get it checked out. I guess it makes sense since the umblicial lymph nodes are right there by the colon.....so close by. Anyway, can't ever be too careful.

Send me good vibes. I'm gonna need them.

Chet

P.S. I know this probably sounds stupid, but I really am going to miss my belly button.

Chet,My thoughts and prayers are with you,as they are with each and everyone of you ,that this beast can be destroyed.I hope this is just a small setback and all goes well. I had to let you know you will not miss your belly button if it comes to that! My husband had an umbilical hernia operation about 10 years ago and is minus the belly button. In time there is an indention there that resembles the lost belly button-maybe it also has to do with aging and sagging some also-ha! Good luck and I will keep checking back on all of you!

Chet,

I also live in Atlanta, and also had a recurrence recently. I am still recovering from my liver resection on 8/28. I wonder if your new oncologist works at the same group as mine? I go to Georgia Cancer Specialists.

Well, anyway, if you want to talk about local hospitals and doctors, etc, feel free to send me a private message.

Good luck with getting rid of the recurrence.

Rodney

Chet...this is not the news I wanted to hear...but we'll still be here.

Hey...we're going to miss your belly button too, but that still doesn't mean you can't be a Colondar model. :)

thanks everyone. I appreciate it. I've been pretty sad the last couple of days but I know what I have to do.

Holly, you mentioned the aorta.........I've never heard of this.........can you say more?

I had my CT Scan yesterday. The prelim says that I have a messentaric mass under my navel, which I knew. I also have a small thing on my liver. It's so small they don't know what it is. So they'll have to give me some other kind of scan...pet probably, to figure it out.

Rodney I'll msg you soon. I'd love to talk.

Chet,

How are you? I have faith that you will one day soon claim your prize and be cancer free. Keep kickin' a little cancer a#$! Through this your journey, I do hope that you will find time to stop and smell the tulips!

You Rock!

Holly
