Random Cough

Postby Sonofafighter » Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:34 am

Probably an over reaction here but need to get it out in the Universe. I noticed my Dad (65 post LAR, post ileo -reversal) had a small cough yesterday. I dont visit that oftern now due to Corona precaustions, but always keep an eye on him to notice any changes.

it was not something loud, just like a "hmmph-hmmph" if you get my meaning, dry cough. he did it every couple of hours while playing with the kids. it didn't seem to bother him at all. I dont know if he did/had this before - he was a smoker a long time till his diagnosis 2 years ago, quit cold turkey then.

Reason for my freak-out it is back in December there were specs on his lung CT - inconclusive, had a PET scan, - no metabolic activity seen - Doc's were of the opinion it was nothing - That PET scan was December 2019.

Since then he has had a clear colonoscopy too, Doc's are happy to do tele-consults with him.

Only complaint he has is bowel movements erratic and some pain in the stoma site - which the doc said is normal and will take a long time to normalize for some people.

If the last imaging was in Dec 2019, then it would not be out of the question to consider having follow-up imaging done again.
JMO. BTDT many times.

low grade "cough" issue could be one of many things, which is why physical exams, imaging and lab work might be a good option.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I agree.

We have an upcoming appointment, will aim to make it. The challenging part of COVID here where I am is you need a test to make it across to the city where the hospital is located and the testing schedules at the drive throughs are just fully packed. I dont Want to risk him going to a regular hospital for a test as he is pre diabetic.

I’m sorry for the vague panicky message. I have a very poor control of my anxiety. Anything small triggers me massively.

We've had sustained high pollen counts in my area this year. I get the counts emailed to me from pollen.com. One thing that helps if someone else in the household has similar symptoms on the same days.
