Normal time frame for followup colonoscopy.

It's only been 8 months since my surgery to remove a tumor and resect my colon. (Right hemicolectomy). All margins were clear.

My surgeon wants me to have another colonoscopy next week. Isn't that a little soon after surgery? I thought a year later would be about right. (I finished with 7 infusions of folfox 2 months ago and last week had a CT scan that revealed no recurrence).

I was suppose to have one next month but its been postponed until Oct. So. I would say they are keeping close watch on you which is good.

It's been a year since my colonoscopy, a bit over 3 months since my LAR surgery, and 2 weeks since my reversal surgery. Met with my surgeon today for a follow-up visit and he said I should have a colonoscopy in the late fall, so that would put me at around the 8-month mark as well. That will be followed by a CT scan in February, which will be a year since my last one.

My surgeon is doing a sigmoidoscopy every 3 months and a colonoscopy in the anniversary. I seem to prefer colonoscopies because I’m knocked out... I feel a little violated after the last sigmoidoscopy!

I had a siggy prior to ileostomy takedown, 6 months after resection
and a full c-scope 14 months after primary resection.

I had my next c-scope 1 year after that and the next one 3 years later
( was dealing with a lung met so timing was kind of "when and if" ! )

just for your reference !

Cheers
