Tests at Dx

Postby beach sunrise » Thu Jun 18, 2020 3:54 pm

Hi, some good advice from past posts on here. The chemo sensitivity testing on your live cancer cells is a promising "insurance policy" especially if you can have it done up front during the biopsy or surgery stage before chemo/rad. In my case I didn't know about it until half way through neo-adjuvant chemo/rad but took a shot at it anyway as part of surgery for upcoming adjuvant chemo. Because radiation did its job up to 75%+, there was not enough live cancer cells to test for me. But, it was worth a shot anyway just to see.

I think this falls into my mindset of
"you miss more for not looking than not knowing"

I agree :
get as much info as you can up front, tests, referrals, follow ups etc.

there is WAY more available now than when I was at Dx and early Tx phase
I had pCR from chemorad so NO tissue to check at resection. All we had to go on was the initial biopsy.

At this point in time, if doing it all again ( NO thanks anyway !!! )
I would absolutely bank samples and have tests done.

Thanks for sharing here
Cheers
