Hello, and welcome to Colon Talk.

The symptoms you describe are part of what is called LARS - Low Anterior Resection Syndrome.

You may be able to find some suggestions on how to handle these problems by consulting the "Living with LARS" website, which has a lot of information in this area:

LARS website - Low Anterior Resection Syndrome
https://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=62507&p=498376#p498376

Some people have been helped by going through the list of "Strategies" suggested on that website, and by trying one strategy after another until they find something that works for them.

In the area of LARS, there is no single solution that works for everybody. Usually we have to try different possibilities until we find something that works.

Some people on this Forum may have suggestions on which strategies to try first, and which ones to try later on. Maybe someone here will chime in with suggestions.

Things may get better with time. My surgeon told me this at many times and I've heard that it can take two years for things to improve. Or maybe we just get better at managing things.

What I've found is that there are things that speed flow and things that slow flow.

Things like coffee, dairy, Miralax, Prebiotics, Probiotics speed things up for me.

Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes slow things down for me.

There may be websites with lists of things that speed up digestion.
