Follow-Up CT / Fatty Liver

Postby galee » Thu Feb 13, 2020 9:40 am

Hi! I had a follow-up CT on Monday the 10th. Yesterday, I picked up the report to take with me to Atlanta next week when I see my colorectal surgeon. Therefore, I have not discussed the results with my oncologist. I see her on the 25th. Regretfully, I am working myself into a little bit of a tizzy... In August and September I had two reports that stated liver was unremarkable.

This report states: Diffuse hepatic steatosis, which diminishes the sensitivity for the detection of hypovascular liver metastasis.

How does one go from an unremarkable liver to a fatty liver in five months? Is this unusual?

On a bowel note, non dilated loops of large and small bowel noted to abut the anterior abdominal wall, compatible with adhesions, without evidence of bowel obstruction. I have been feeling some discomfort in left low abdomen just below drain incision. It’s intermittent but can be felt when applying pressure. This pain and mucus in my stool is what prompted my upcoming appointment.

Any experience or advice would be appreciated. I have allowed myself an extra cup of coffee and a few hours to process (or as my husband would say obsess over) my fatty liver.

With gratitude,
Lee

Hi Lee,

Have you been on adjuvant chemo? If so, that would probably be the reason for the liver change. Chemo can mess with your liver. It did mine.

Dave,

Thank you for responding. Thankfully I have not had to have chemo following the location and pathology of My tumor. This scan feedback is just further affirmation of the importance of a clean diet, minimal or no red wine and lots of exercise. It has been difficult navigating a balance with the symptoms of wicked LARS.
