33 years old, mucus, blood and nerves!

Postby shannajean33 » Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:54 pm

Hi! First of all, I hope I'm posting in the correct place... I'm so sorry if I'm not!
My question is, did any of you have daily mucus? I've had it every day for over 2 years now.. it is with every bowl movement, they are covered in mucus. And multiple times a day, every day, I go and there is no stool at all, only mucus. No pain, though. I wasnt aware this was abnormal until recently. I had occasional bleeding here and there but put it off as hemorrhoids, as I am a mother of two. But a couple weeks ago, I was suddenly filling the toilet with blood. To the point where you couldn't even see the toilet paper in there, there was so much blood. This would happen during a bowel movement, but also when I was just going pee.. it would still come out. So weird. And embarrassing. This went on for 8 days and I finally gave in and told my husband, who of course took me straight to the ER. They did some sort of digital rectal exam and she said no hemorrhoids but that whatever she got, tested positive for blood. They did a CT scan which was unremarkable, and my blood work was also good. I saw a GI dr the next day, and am scheduled for a colonoscopy a week from today. My dad recently passed away so I cant ask him details obviously, but I do know he had colonoscopies and polyps removed... I'm just not sure of the details. Anyway... I'm rambling and nervous... and curious if anyone has had the same experience? Thank you so much if you made it this far lol.

Good luck with tests. I hope your symptoms improve.

It is much more likely you have colitis or crohns than cancer so stay positive and healthy

Hello,
Ok so it’s good that you are getting a colonoscopy. It is the only way to see what is actually going on in your colon. We are unable to speculate what is going on but there are other conditions that can cause your symptoms besides cancer.
My only symptom was blood in my stool. I had a colonoscopy and was diagnosed with colon cancer. That was 10 years ago.
Following my colonoscopy, I had a CT scan, for staging, and it picked up the tumor in my colon. CT scans are not used to diagnose colon cancer but the fact that your CT scan was unremarkable is a good sign.
It’s not too long to wait for your colonoscopy. In the meantime, try not to think the worst. Wishing you the best
May 25 2009 Dx with CC (sigmoid colon) 2 days after my 44th b'day
CEA prior to surgery 4.7

Genetic testing - inconclusive for Lynch

Thank you so much for your response! I'm trying not worry, I'm sure it's all fine, sometimes your mind just wanders to the worst case scenario, unfortunately. Thank you tons for responding and I hope you're doing well :)

Hello,
I would say try not to worry but I know its extremely hard not to. You had a CT of what? My mother went to the ER for bleeding as well and they didn't notice anything on the CT. The colposcopy will definitely give you some answers.

Thank you so much for reading and replying! They did a CT with contrast of my entire abdomen, I believe. I hope your mother is doing okay?

Hey,

She's currently going through chemo/radiation treatment. She will be done with that in 2 weeks. She will rest for a few weeks and then surgery.

Please keep us updated.

Thank you all so much, you are all so kind! I had my colonoscopy, it went well I suppose, as far as colonoscopies go?
He took 14 biopsies which really took us by surprise! We're waiting for pathology now. Hopefully will hear from them today. Thank you all for taking the time to read and reply, I hope you are all doing well!

Hi shannajean33 I hope all goes with you. I am new here and wondering if you have the results? I have similar symptoms with you and am very worried and still waiting to see a specialist.

Thanks
