Another anniversary

Postby Ron50 » Fri Jan 17, 2020 9:26 pm

It has been a while but I always drop in on my anniversary. I n four days I reach 22 years still cancer free ex stage 3 c colon cancer. It has not been a fun time in Australia with the continuing drought then in September last year Australia caught fire. So far 22 people and over a billion native animals have perished. I have not been directly threatened by the fires but have suffered badly from the smoke pollution. Despite some rain the fires continue to burn. I entered a new phase of my life last December when I finally retired after 57 years of work. I turn 70 in April so I figured it was time . A happy and cancer free new year to all, Ron.

Ron, Congrats on your retirement as well as your 22 years cancer-free!!! :D
So sad to read/see what is happening in Australia.

Off Topic: I visited Australia last year for my 'once-in-a-lifetime trip' in January for a month...absolutely LOVED it! Hope to go again now! Did a bit of hiking/sleeping in swags...not getting any younger so I should do that sort of thing soon. Hope you had a nice Australian Day yesterday. (Last year I was in Alice Springs for their Aus Day & the city hall/park area- they had entertainment and a sausage sizzle. :) )

Take care & thanks for checking in.

Hello Ron
Another year passes by.
My situation is getting precarious. Though I was reluctantly declared cancerfree in 2017 I'm afraid the NSCLC returned last year. After 4 cycles of Alimta + Carboplatin I was given a break from chemo in Nov.,Dec.,and January. My haemoglobin had dropped to 71g/L. Anyhow this Wednesday I started on Opdivo so I'm hoping for the best. It's times like these that you appreciate our healthcare system. Opdivo is expensive.
All the best Ron. Sorry for sidetracking your thread.

There is no side tracks mate , we are all on the same road. I'm sorry that you are you constantly getting the rug pulled from under your feet every time things are looking good for you. I hope the Opdivo does its job. You have put a lot of effort into the fights you have had with cancer and it's about time you won by knockout not on points. All the best Ron.
