I don't know if there are any negative indications for drinking coffee during chemo. I never read that anywhere. All I know is that I didn't feel well enough for coffee on the vast majority of days during my 5 months of chemo. I would have a little coffee if my stomach was up to it..usually decaf. On infusion days I usually felt pretty good and my daughter would bring me a decaf latte with cinnamon sprinkles while I was in the infusion room. It was always a tiny pleasure.

No problems with coffee here. My infusion center offers coffee or tea or other beverages to everyone.

I think it completely depends on your personal relationship with coffee. :)

Don't think there are any impediments.
The Clinic where I receive treatment has several coffee stand on every floor- even in the infusion sections.

When my husband was on XelOx he stopped drinking coffee, but not because of medical reasons - the taste of it suddenly became awful to him. On Folfiri however, no alteration of taste so he’s been enjoying his usual French press of the dark stuff daily!

I stopped drinking coffee for several months after diagnosis, but started up again as I enjoy it, and couldn’t find any evidence that it’s unhealthy or bad for cancer patients.

Milk rather than Coffee may be the thing to avoid . But that's another controversy for you.

Why milk? Initially we avoided dairy because of supposed growth hormones etc which we read in multiple books but studies have proven that it’s the opposite for colon cancer. Dairy actually reduces risk.

Here’s an example:

There’s so much of conflicting information on the internet and books. What are your thoughts on this?

I always took a mug of coffee with me to infusions. It took a year after chemo before I could tolerate milk. It gave me incontinence.

I too would walk into infusion room with a cup of coffee. Once I had Orange Juice, bad idea, ended up throwing it up. We all decided that probably was not a good idea and not to do it again.

Enjoy the coffee.

You've had other replies so I will just throw this in here :

IF the chemo is known to cause GIT problems / diarrhea etc.
it may be a good idea to avoid caffeinated drinks ( tea, coffee, colas etc.) and lactose containing items ( dairy )
for their possible adverse effects on GIT function contributing to diarrhea.

As for "carcinogenic issues" I am not aware of any specific prohibitions for either coffee or milk during chemo, or for CRC patients.

Best wishes
