Just A Quick Update

Postby DocSavage » Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:10 pm

I haven't been very good about checking in here even though this has been a great resource and comfort.
For the quick bullet:

The biopsy of course confirmed that the liver lesions were CRC.
I have been on Xeloda and Avastin since July. Not nearly as bad as FOLFOX but we have had to reduce the dose twice because of hoof and mouth or is it hand and foot...
Last PET scan this month showed what appeared to be a complete response. The Doc said we are not done yet and I had an MRI on December 23rd. I won't get the results of that until Monday. So far at least that is good news.

The Doc said resection and ablation are still on the table along with continued chemo. Not looking forward to surgery but you guys know - one day at a time

Well -

Scheduled for laparoscopic microwave liver ablation on Monday. The Doc said it will take about 3 hours and I can go home later that day.
Has anybody got any words of wisdom on what to expect? I am assuming since its not as big as surgery as the colectomy it will be easier to recover.

It also sounded a bit like he was going to rummage around in there a bit like a blind squirrel looking for an acorn - but what do I know....
