Anyone Done SBRT to the Lung?

Postby James65 » Tue Dec 17, 2019 10:04 am

Hi All,
It's been a while, but my cancer seems to be fairly persistent.

I have a small (about 1cm) tumor in my upper left lung lobe along the incision scar from a previous resection. My radiation oncologist said that when lung resections recur it is often along the incision scar.

I am going to do SBRT and wondering what others have experienced with this treatment. Any advice? I begin in mid January.

Best to you all,
James
Diagnosed with stage III rectal tumor (though probably late stage II) January 2006.
Chemo/Radiation
Full APR Surgery
Folfox Chemo
So far NED.
Oops. Liver tumor diagnosed 10/13 after elevated CEA. Liver resection for 5cm tumor 12/6/13. So far so good.
Oops again, one tumor in each lung diagnosed 8/8/16. One too small to deal with and the other resected in late September. Wait and watch for now.
Oops, another lung Met in upper left lobe on edge of previous resection scar 11/11/19.

Hi James,
My husband had it done in his 4th lumbar vertebrae, after "regular" radiation (EBRT I believe) failed to control the cancer there. It's been about a year and so far so good; the treatment was delivered in 3 doses. No side effects beside a little fatigue. So although we have no experience with SBRT for lung mets, we're big supporters of this technology! I hope it works for you. Everything I've read about it for met control has been quite encouraging.

I had 5 sessions to treat a nodule in my upper right lung. Easy peasy. It's been 6 months and so far, so good.

We're about to have another SBRT experience, for the adrenal gland this time. DH scheduled for 3 sessions January 2, 6, and 8. Yes! Let's burn this damn thing to a crisp!

Yeah Claudine, I'm with you. Burn it to cinders.

Oncologists should talk like this more, "We're going to kick the s**t out of that thing."

I had SBRT to my liver with good results so far. Also, the procedure was easy with few side effects besides fatigue.
