My husband did. If you read my signature you can see how many times he had to go in. He never had pain. They had to make him sleepy. He had a colostomy take down first and given an illeostomy because they were worried he’d scar and have issues with the connection. It’s a good thing they did because his connection ended up being only a 1mm opening. That’s what they had to stretch with the balloon.
They took the staples out from surgery during one, because it was causing scarring and narrowing. The 2nd to last they stretched it then shot it with steroids to help keep it open. They almost put a stint in to help but didn’t have to. They don’t like to do that to anyone fully connected, but will sometimes with people who are not.
He is now 3 weeks from his illeostomy take down.
His whole colon is 15mm in diameter. We were told they usually average 30mm. He is still on a low fiber diet. He goes back for another colonoscopy Dec 16 so the GI Dr can make sure everything looks good. But he did warn us he may be on a low fiber diet forever because of his narrow colon.
