Hi,
As my husband got allergic to Oxiliplatin, doctor planned to take oral chemo (xeloda) for a month by two weeks in medicine and one week off, and get checked the scan and will only decision for next treatment though recent CT scan showed tumor is growing from 5mm to 7mm. It look weird that it look like chemo is not working and they are not going other option for treatment.
So we are planning to go at mayo clinic for treatment, do any one know a best doctor at mayo clinic, Rochester to treat colon cancer metastatic to lung?

Thank you

I don't have an answer to your question but maybe this will help guide you: when I went to Mayo at another location, I looked for an oncologist specializing in GI cancers. You can read their full bios and go from there. Here's a link to get you started:

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/colon-cancer/doctors-departments/ddc-20353677?locations=Rochester%2c%20MN#e60ad0d0bc354936a881a57de90ea8a3

Since your first choice may not have an opening for months, perhaps pick 2-3 others so you have a backup plan.

Good luck.

Hi Suniva,

I go to Mayo Rochester but did not have mets to the lungs so I can't help you directly. For me, I got a referral then they assigned the Dr.'s. They are so specialized that they will match your husbands' cancer to the right oncologist and surgeons. He will be assigned an oncologist who specializes in GI cancer.
