Hi SF! So great for you to check in and give inspiration to others. It was due to your story that I pursued HIPEC and for that, I will always be grateful. I'm here 11 years after my diagnosis, and this place is/was such an amazing source of information. I have have had various treatments and surgeries over the years, and have worried a lot about all things cancer. But I have also lived every day to the fullest and have not missed one minute of my children's childhood. I wish you much peace and happiness.

SkiFletch- it is good of you to make the optimistic post. People need hope. Even though some will suffer more than us.
I thought I was cured and was cured for 10 years. Even though my cancer came back, I don’t regret thinking that or posting encouragingly.

I’m at 11 and 1/2 years now- still kicking and feeling good.

10 years for me, too, had my last chemo session Oct 20, 2009. I haven't been here in years and I couldn't remember my username or password to get in but I looked back and found my first post and tada here I am!

I just read a newspaper article about someone who had colon cancer at 30 yrs old in 2011 and the lack of resources for young adults with cancer. I was 38 in 2009 when I was diagnosed with stage 3 and I thought what a shame that young person wasn't aware of the Colon Club back then, it was such a source of knowledge and comfort for me. So I looked it up and am so pleased that it's still here! Good luck to everyone still going through their cancer journey.

Hi Fletch,
I've often wondered what happened to you....how you are doing, etc? I'm so glad you came back to give us all an update. For whatever reason, I always associated you with Eric (brownbagger) and CrGuy. It's like the three of you were the THREE MUSKETEERS. I remember when you got married and then had a baby.....you were on Cloud nine! It is a little scary sometimes when you don't hear from one of the 'old timers' because then you worry that they've passed away from the disease. So glad to hear that you are doing well and now hit the TEN year mark!

You give those who are relatively new HOPE....and that's a good thing. I'm 13.5 years from my diagnosis and although I am around, I tend not to participate as much on the forum. When I saw the title '10 Years and Counting'...I had to click on it to see who it was. Like I said earlier, I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well.

I hope that you and your family enjoy a wonderful and Blessed Christmas and a very Happy New Year! Don't wait another 10 years to pop in and let us know how you are doing! There are still a bunch of us 'old timers' still around.

Hugs

From one "old timer" to another....CHEERS and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Us survivors smile instead of frown when someone complains about getting old.

I just smile and think "Damn right I'm getting old...beats the alternative"!   8)

Great news Fletch, and thanks for keeping that promise of checking in at 10 years.

Wow this is both my first time looking at boards like this and indeed posting since my diagnosis. Just great to hear people surviving and living well. My nurses have told me of 5 year plus patients in similar situations to me but it's great to hear people actually doing it. Particularly after the only thing I've really since DX on line is scare myself with survival stats.

It gives me something to hope for whilst just trying to live my life one day at a time and enjoy every well day with my family. So thanks, what started as a quick Google about whether chemo causes hiccups has made my day.
UK 34 y.o man. Dad to a 2 y.o boy with another on the way.
First symptoms 3/19. Investigated for haemorrhoids (in fairness they found some)
Symptoms got worse 9/19. Referred for colonoscopy to rule out colitis
10/19 tumor causing bowel obstruction found. Staging CT found single met to liver and multiple in both lungs.
Surgery for colonoscopy and primary tumor removal DX + 4 days.
11/19 started Folfiri

Feeling lucky for all the time I get & having a really supportive family, friends and colleagues
