Exercise

OK, for those of you who remember me exercise was always a topic close to my heart.
Talking of which I thought this article summed up the reasons, or at least some of them, that I run and did a lot more so since I got cancer.
I know that not everyone can do it but I found the worse I felt on chemo the better I did after I exercised.
I hope it can make some of those undergoing chemo consider things.
I was at my worst on rounds 7-8 of FOLFOX. I stopped exercising, I lost a lot of fluids, I ended up in the ER with a drip, and then after that I got back into exercising again (slowly) and I felt better the more I exercised.
I'm still here, exercising almost 7 years after stage IV diagnosis.

Hey kiwi I FEEL your vibe buddy

when I was instructing martial arts (karate) AND training myself, AND learning a new system of Taiji/Qigong
I would get into a zone which I can only describe as " zoned in "

ALL the benefits of physical exercise AND the benefits of the inner body/mind/spirit wellness
can ONLY be a GOOD thing for all of us.

In my many ramblings here I believe I have described the benefit I received from many years of training.

I OWE MY LIFE to the body/mind/spirit connection of who I AM, because of my training
AND how I could take it to ...
TAKE IT TO ..... defeating cancer !

The science and the chemistry killed the cancer inside the patient
The patient INSIDE the cancer ... KILLED THE CANCER

WORD !

Whatever we can bring to the battle ....
That is who we are
and THAT defines us

Peace Love and Harmony
to ALL on the Journey

I got home last night and DH, who'd just had his chemo infusion late morning, was spinning on his home trainer with the chemo pump hanging off the handlebars :)
Exercising has been a huge help to him, both physically and mentally; just like you, he says that he feels better afterwards, even if it's sometimes really hard to get motivated to start (when he feels like crap and just laying in bed).

I know an oncologist in France who started his own "exercise club" for his cancer patients, after noticing over and over how much better people who exercised fared, both in terms of well-being during treatment and in terms of treatment efficacy.

Yay endorphins!

My husband recovered faster from surgery and tolerated chemo very well because he exercised the whole time.

He never skipped more than 2 days. He kept telling me I feel like s*hit but I know if I don't go to the gym I'll feel even worse andddd sure thing he would come back from his training and be a whole different person. I am 100% sure exercise made his journey a lot more "bearable".

Nice! My (sedentary) friends thought that I was nuts for hitting the gym during chemo but it was a great stress reliever for me.
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?
