colonoscopy screening early

Postby natelaugh » Fri Sep 27, 2019 7:39 pm

Hi All,

I want to share you with about my colonoscopy. Doctor have found 3 polyps total, one 1cm and two 1mm. They said if I have waited until 50yrs old, the 1cm might have grow into cancer. Get screening early. Don't wait until 50yrs old standard procedure to get a colonoscopy.

Best wishes,
Nate.

I totally agree with this if there is a family history. I got my first one at age 34 about 6 weeks after my mom was diagnosed. It was normal and they told me to come back in 5 years. I am honestly wondering if it’s possible to come back even earlier.

Amen! Although I think you might be preaching to the converted here :)

Also if someone is having difficulty getting a scope due to a lack of symptoms, a FOBT is not a bad second option.

I was diagnosed when I was 46. If my PCP had not referred me to get scoped, I hate to think what would have happened if I waited until I was 50 or beyond. All my blood work was good, no symptoms, just bleeding hemorrholds.

Maybe try to get a blood test like CEA or CA19-9. If it is out of range then you have a reason to ask for an earlier check up. That is what I am doing and I used this website to order my and my dad test.
