Vision & chemo

Postby Marie25 » Thu Sep 26, 2019 2:13 pm

I see that blurry vision can be a side effect from the steroids or chemo. Has any one had it only happen in just 1 eye? (It went away after about 2/3 days) The oncologist says it should happen in both eyes and because of that, if it happens again she wants a scan.

I don't recall vision problems though I am having them right now due to ragweed. Could something else be causing the vision problems?

I had some blurry vision during chemo but it seldom lasted for more than a few hours. Sorry but I can’t even remember if it was one or both eyes.

My husband had decreased accuracy in vision ongoing, and it improved after he stopped chemo.

I think my eyesight was coincidentally deteriorating at the same time. I did notice that things got more blurry while on Xeloda, but my oncologist said that wasn’t a side effect.

Now I have glasses.

Same thing with me (one eye, during chemo) but is was age-related vitreous detachment at age 62. That is worth taking to an eye doctor since sometimes can be something more than the normal vitreous detachment. Was harmless in my case. Not sure if it happening during chemo was causal or coincidental.

This is refreshing to read. DH has "cloudy" vision at best right now his RN couldn't confirm or deny chemo involvement but is setting up an eye appt anyway to be safe. This week is the last chemo before surgery at the end of the month
DH dx stage IV liver mets largest 6x6.4 cm
Colonoscopy/endoscopy/port place 5/29
4cm mass in splenic flexure
1st round FolFox 5/30
08/2018 new CT no new lesions, clear lungs, slight decrease in colon.
3/2019 PET scan shows greater than 6-7 liver mets largest measuring 3x3 cm. No growth nothing new.
8/15/19 largest liver lesion 1.9x2.1
9/16/2019 OSU to proceed with surgery implant HAI and colon resection
11/19 resection of colon HAI placed
2/20 CEA back to 1000s, liver worse than when we began-start FOLFIRI
