Had to have high hopes for a living...

Postby Mohrfamily » Wed Sep 18, 2019 4:47 am

...DH IS GONNA BE THAT ONE IN A MILLION
-slightly modified lyrics Panic at the Disco hugh hopes

DH is finally moving forward in the steps toward surgery! The OSU campus has 3 old style pumps left and hubby has his name on one. No surgery date yet, he finished his bloodwork they wanted yesterday in prep for chemo today. Still waiting to hear when our next trip will be for a CT or is it CTA or is it just the same thing, meet Mary Dilloff (who will place the pump and did Her fellowship ar MSK) again and also Dr. Arnold, a colorectal surgeon.

I wish I could say I'm excited, and I am but many of you know there is a wide range of emotions tied to that... Anxiety, relief, hope, fear the list goes on. I made my opinions known as well as all of yours and DH gave the green light!!

Attitude is half the battle. Also being treated by major cancer centers with experienced doctors is a Hugh plus. Sounds like you have both those things in place. I always felt better when things started happening because to me it was the big start of kicking the hell out of the cancer. I completely understand your many emotions at this time and it's completely normal.

I will hope and pray that things continue to go well and all this will behind you soon so you both can continue on with a cancer FREE life together!

That's great news! Especially being able to get one of the original style pumps. From what I've read, that's a bonus. You are at the right place and have the right attitude to get things done!

Thank you everyone! DH told me today that his CEA rose again, his nurse assured him that it usually takes 2-3 cycles to get back on the downward trek so he's trying not to freak out (me as well).

CEA 47 in August, 84-2 weeks ago, 109 today.

I choose to focus on the positive and hope and pray like Heck to get this pump in and the colon cancer out by 12/31/19!!!

Awesome news!!! It's interesting they still have a few Codman pumps there. That's what I have, so DH and I will be pump buddies! :D

I am keeping my fingers crossed that things keep moving forward! I totally understand your wide range of emotions, but try to concentrate on the "kicking cancer's butt" part!

SURGERY SCHEDULED! October 29th!

OSU will not only implant a codeman pump but also do the colon tumor back to back! Laparoscopic surgery here we come.

Hubby is scared, doing my best to reassure him this is what all his chemo suffering is for to get this crap out!

DH wasn't very happy realizing he's going to miss trick or treat this year (if they don't do it the weekend before). My reply was getting this done could mean many more truck or treats he WON'T miss.

Also 2nd surgeon doing the pump decided open surgery would be better. Quicker OR time, better chance of cleaning him out more effectively and the colon surgeon agreed and made mention a colostomy bag wouldn't be needed... I don't know if I mentioned that.
