Stool Issues After Surgery?

Hello all. Sorry for the topic. I am 11 days post surgery and just when I think my BM's are going to start being normal again, I get diarrhea. Today I had something with caffeine in it for the first time since the surgery and it feels like Im passing lava. I had my ascending and transverse removed so I realize it will take some time for my body to aclimate, but this is no fun.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you're in a marathon and you will have a new normal that may take YEARS to establish. Try some Imodium and maybe keep a food log so you can see whst your triggers are. Also, please consider adding a signature so people have more info when responding.

I had 12" of ascending colon removed and it took 2-3 months after surgery to get somewhat normal. It was a big concern of mine and Dr's really didn't give any warning or explanation. Actually had some blood in the 1st month after surgery that was kinda scary. Oncologist only explanation was "well you just had colon surgery". So yes you will most likely experience constipation, pain and all sorts of things. Hope this helps Good Luck!
