I know we are not drs but can someone interpret what what this means?

I had colorectal cancer 7 years ago after many surgeries I’m left with an ileostomy and no colon but a recital stump. I’ve been having terrible neurological issues since January and today my neurologist sent me for PET scan.
Here are my results-
1.Left mid abdominal hypermetabolic mass as described, perhaps slightly larger but otherwise unchanged since the prior study. A metastatic lesion is favored.
2. Subjectively stable hypermetabolic left cervical lymph nodes consistent with metastasis.

Please help me understand. As I interrupt them I have a mestastic mass in my mesentary and metastatic cervical lymphnodes?
They had told me about a mass in October but they figured it was scar tissue from my colon removal... this isn’t sounding like scar tissue

Hi ,

I remember you . I read your other post . So sorry your back here with unusual symptoms . Sounds rough !

I have to say it’s a difficult one to interpret as they seem to be using language that suggests a fatty lump , possibly benign but don’t think that could explain the lymph node unless it is reactionary to a nearby mass .

What was the PET scan uptake like for these areas ? To be very honest with you I would never even be shown my mum’s PET scans now . Ten years into a stage 4 diagnosis with several surgeries there is many unknowns showing up.

Would the uptake values give you any indication ?

It said both the mass in stomach and lymph’s in neck had significant hypermetabolic uptake. Then he follows both on findings with consistent with metastasis.

Mmm sounds like it light up a bit .

Although seven years is a late presentation of a recurrence . I wonder if they are looking at doing a biopsy to get a better indication of what your encountering .

You really have been through a lot with your symptoms . Hope they got into it quickly for you .
Take care,
