In the great words of my cousin , you only live once, and then she corrected herself and said , you live everyday, and only die once !

Have a great adventure , Michael

I've always said that if I'm seen driving a Ferrari the sh#t has hit the fan.
In 2007 I went and bought a Breitling Navitimer.
In 2017 I bought a BMW M240i ( a beast in its own right). With 1600km on the clock I wrote it off. Courtesy of Allianz I got a new replacement.

Pyro - This was two years ago. When I see that line-up again, without my dad this time, I’ll think of you in that background, and that the thrill up there was merely a glimpse of Heaven. Just prayed for a miracle for you and my husband and the “BrokenWings” writer on here. We need miracles.

Pyro,

Thank You for sharing and leading us all to a good and purposeful life. We may not be able to control the day we arrive or depart this great earth, but we do have control over how we all LIVE each day!

I know the news is difficult, but as you know being a fighter jock, you can not control much more than the six inches in front of your face. Enjoy what you have in the moment. Your leadership here is very much appreciated through your sharing of this with us. Memories are made everyday you are walking and talking... Make them count!

All the best and Happy Independence Day! (..No offense Stu, we love our British friends here!)
WS

Beautiful car! My bucket list priority was travel, and although I cancel more trips than I take these days I still get a kick out of planning them. Enjoy your ride!!

I am familiar with high flight, I taught pilot training for 4 years in the T-38 and every graduation the poem is sung like a song. Thanks Green Tea.

I don’t see why this couldn’t be the sites bucket list thread, can’t really take ownership of a website!

The other bucket list item was to go to the beach with my family, my sister, her husband and 8 kids (no typo) met us at the Catamaran resort in San Diego. I will go to this hotel again, it was epic. Anywho, here’s a pic of me and the wife, my rock. Check out the pic I put in “Take me away” thread as well.

In the spirit of bucket list and cancer patients getting out and doing stuff, here is a picture of my wife and I doing our first joint kiteboarding downwinder last week. Before this picture was taken, I had spent a 11 days in the hospital with a neutropenic fever and all kinds of things going wrong. I left the hospital with urinary retention (this is terrible) and very weak after losing another 6lbs I couldn’t afford to lose. My brother had planned to rent a beach house that week and told me in the hospital that I need to get better to join them. My wife and I scoffed at him saying we “need to be realistic”. But when I got out of the hospital, as soon as I could pee a little bit, we took the 14 hour road trip to North Carolina. I thought I’d spend the week just sitting on the beach. But when my wife went kiteboarding the first day, I knew I couldn’t just sit there and not get on the water myself! To my surprise, my body didn’t fail me and stepped up to the plate. Now I’ve been down here kiting in the waves and doing long downwinder for close to 2 weeks. I think all the physical activity has made me a lot stronger. Lesson learned: you won’t get better in your bed. Use whatever time you have left to do as much as possible - you might be surprised in what you can still do!

Image

p.s. My bucket list item has been to teach my wife kiteboarding. We started 2 years ago in Egypt after my diagnosis and before my first surgeries. It makes me very happy to see her on the water now, really loving it, and knowing it’s something she’ll continue to do without me. My goal has been to get her to ride in the waves before I peace out, but that may need to be a stretch goal...

Hi Pyro,
What a nice photo of you & your wife :)
Please continue for a looong time with your ”Bucket List” thread.
I’m thinking of Frenchie’s ”The Grim Reaper..” thread, if I remember correct it continued for well over 2 years!

Hello Pyro,

Just spotted this mention of Frenchie's thread. Yes it did go on for a long time and it has been 3 years since his passing. I'm not sure if there are many that remember him on here any more. I check every so often. I remember him spending lots of time on here typing away. He had his bucket list, some of his stuff he had completed before he met me lol. Keeping marking things off your bucket list as I do as well. I take a piece of Frenchie with me where ever I go.
