Currently in the ER...woo.

Postby AmyG » Wed Jun 19, 2019 3:22 pm

Had significant rectal bleeding, diarrhea and abdominal cramping since last night. Called the oncologist after one trip to the potty resulted in nothing but a bowl full of bright red blood. They said go to the ER, so here I sit.

They've already accessed my port and drawn my labs. Here's to hoping it's nothing!

Well, good labs are a start. Hopefully the CT scan will show what's really going on. Hope you're back home and feeling better again soon!

With you in spirit. I remember the day my doctor called and told me to go directly to the ER. It was scary, and I ended up being there for a full week.

I think it was the first time that I realized cancer treatment was not a straight line of chemo - that it could and would go sideways when you least expected it.

It’s good that you got yourself in and will figure out with the CT what’s going on so you can address it!

Thanks yall! ER nurse redrew my labs, some value is lower and he told me he wouldn't be surprised if I got a transfusion before I left.

Currently in a room with lovely nursing staff. They are checking to make sure I'm not npo. I've had nothing but a cup of coffee today. They at least ordered me some fluids, so that's that!

The bleeding is still excessive. Who likes seeing the potty full of blood? Not me!
