Stayed up late rootin' for the Longhorns last night. Might need a nap today. And yes, there was a small amount of beer involved.

They get along pretty well. She's fearless, and he's cautious. He's had to give her a loud 'leave me alone bark" a couple of times, and she's learning. She's still really little compared to his rotundness. DD calls him a chonky-tonk, so he can stand to lose a pound or two, and with all the new activity he's be fit very soon.

"Chonky-tonk"...how funny :) Are you keeping up w/the two of them pretty well, Mom?

Groomed Chloe today, brushed her teeth, shored her hair up a bit, shaved her feet for toenail clipping @ the vet Tuesday (just impossible for me to do it anymore) + gave her a bath. Normally don't like to stress her out all in one day so I spread it out.

So in the utility room tub she goes...AND she groaned & cried a little. Broke my heart. I go as fast as I can.

All done

Image

She's not happy & this is the face I don't like, but it gets even worse & scrunched up when I try to brush her teeth. Like she's getting ready to growl & bite. Today those jaws were locked tight. She was not having any part of tooth brushing besides getting several treats, but I managed. Down to once/week brushing, however a treat before squirting daily Dentahex oral rinse seems to help keep placque buildup down. She hates that stuff too, but tolerates it much better w/a treat beofrehand. Otherwise she fights it & afraid I was going to squirt her in the eye. It's just really, really tough...have to be creative. At 17 she just wants to be left alone except for the fun stuff. All I can do is space grooming further apart. That bare spot on her snoz is where she had a tick a few years back. Trazadone is not working to relax her a bit. Soon as you start messing w/her she's on "all alert", shivers & shakes like a cartoon character. Skip over that dirty towel, it's in the laundry

Prescott last weekend, felt nice to get out of the 100 degree temps and into the mountains (mile above sea level). Had a family of Javelina’s stroll through the backyard. These aren’t pigs, they have more in common with Rodents, look it up!

Those look like the body of a pig, head of an anteater. Definitely not a family pet.

How about a little food porn? My favorite summertime dish of garden-fresh zucchini & tomato stir fry served over a bed of jade pearl rice. Just finished the last of it tonight. Yummy.

We went to Peterborough this weekend. Our original plans got kiboshed so we ended up taking a boat trip down the river to watch the air show. It was an awesome experience. Planes were at times probably less than a kilometre overhead. Highlight was the CF18 display (I was thinking of Pyro the whole time),
Image

and then, of course, the Snowbirds.
Image

My camera battery had died so I ended up taking pictures from my phone. I took pictures of the sequence of the 9 Snowbirds landing at the end of their display just metres over us. Except somehow I was in selfie mode. Not sharing those....

We are experienced boating picnickers, but this time I went out on a limb and made deviled eggs.
Image
Lesson learned. A 17’ boat dealing with wake from 32’ cruisers will never win.

After the air show ended we went further down the river and found ourselves in the middle of a poker run. I didn't take pictures but the boats were hugely impressive. From hull shapes to paint jobs, each one was unique. And fast.

Hi Everyone,

Don't have a picture to share, maybe one of these days. Thought I would fill in my last few months. Dear Hubby ended up in the hospital over the 4th of July. Was in for 5 days, he's doing much better now. He kept me busy for most of July. August and a few weeks in September were months away from home. Started August in Pensacola, FL to see father in law. He's going pretty good, but getting older. He just turned 93. Maybe going to see him in a few month. He's at a wonderful place, but they may be moving him from independent living to assisted living. Will help sister in law with the move and clearing out his current apartment.

My brother has a beach house on the Outer Banks. We were there a few weeks after our Florida trip. We were suppose to be on the island for a week with a few days at both weekends to see, vacation and explore North Carolina. Dorian cut our time at the beach house short. The good news, my brother place is about 100 miles north of where it hit land, butt we all boarded up the house just in case. DH and I were there until Wednesday. Guess it's not the hurricane that is the problem, rather the possible flooding. And if you don't have 4 wheel drive, leave the island. We heeded the advice.

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. We did and had a wonderful time. No interstate for us, just the back roads, One of the restaurants we ate at was local mom and pop. Everyone knew we were not from around there and owner kept bring us different things to try, yum!!! She gave me a hug on the way out. When the hurricane was coming ashore we were mostly inland, got a motel, but had to accept we could lose power, lights, etc if storm got bad enough. Hey we had 4 walls, roof, and a door, all good. Guess some people saw a few tornados. We were eating at a local restaurant when it was raining cats and dogs, at least for me. Waitress said, this is nothing, wait until a hurricane comes through, then it get exciting. Hum, no thank you

North Carolina is a beautiful state with a lot of southern charm, and the BBQ is to die for. We had a wonderful trip. Gotta figure out this picture thing.

September has just been busy. A good friend's dad just passed away at 88, will be helping her shortly with his place. Will be catching on this thread tomorrow or the next day. Hope everyone is doing well.

Haven't been posting much and lurk here off and on. I've taken up being a photobug to escape the messes going on with my life (ie divorce and health issues). But here are some samplings of pics I've taken at various locations to escape for a little bit.

Thank you stu.

Yes, lots for me to process. Some times I wonder how I'm still standing with all the stress.

I'm pretty sure I've posted these on here in a different thread but since this one is more recent, I'll put them here too:
