Great family pics, Pyro. Cute kids, especially son dressed up as Dad. Thought you weren't supposed to eat 2 hours before swimming  Old wive's tail :?:  Eating pizza (or anything for that matter) from the pool a first for me

Yes, I love Crape Myrtles. Crape Myrtle tree near the sidewalk, coral in color. Other Crape Myrtles are shrubs, pink & cherry in color. And it's obvious that I like contrasting colors vs tonal blends throughout the flower bed.
Mower has been in the shop 3 weeks now. (Thank God), I'm worn out. Hella lot of work = no wonder I have a bad back.

Such great pics. Love the pizza pool party with Pyro and daughter, and his cute little guy ready for takeoff.

Also BS, your crepe myrtles look really good this year, such great color. You've also got some great combinations going on there.

It's been pretty hot in Austin lately, annoying but not really surprising, so we've been swimming in the morning. Made a recent purchase at William Sonoma of frozen chocolate croissants. They make for an enjoyable breakfast while paddling about in the pool.

Yesterday we had a visitor who was observing the action from the top of the pool fence. A pretty large praying mantis of about 4 inches.

Image

Fun fact for the day... a group of praying mantis is called a congregation.

Also, a group of pugs is called a grumble, and group of dachshunds is a spunk. https://barkpost.com/life/groups-of-breeds/

Finally we have a group of bulldogs, otherwise known as a fart.

The fiesta babies enjoying a bit of dinner, and right after their first bath. Still no word on which one we'll get, but should know soon.

Where to begin?!? All of these pics are awesome—thanks everyone for sharing! This is my favorite thread because it gives you such a neat glimpse in to our non-CRC lives.

Seriously Peanut—those pups are beyond adorable—how can you not want them all?!? I am looking forward to sibling pics of Fonzie with his little bro/sis, whichever you end up with.

BS, always love the pics of your plants and of course sweet Ms Chloe—that is quite the ride she now has. How nice you two can still enjoy walks together even if she isn’t her younger self.

Pyro—great pics of the kids. Enjoy that quality family time making memories. I have one in college and another who will be going to college next year and damn, it’s just crazy how fast the years go by—I legit feel like they were just little boys snuggling with me on the couch reading stories.

MOB—you rock, thanks for starting this thread! :D

To everyone else who has contributed pics, I have enjoyed them all and the funny and sentimental tales that go with them—cool stuff and thanks for sharing! I don’t have any pics to share today, but I promise to share soon, once I find something neat worth sharing.

Peanut, you haven't gotten your baby yet? Sure seems like a long time! Getting anxious?
That praying mantis = eeww. Looked it up:
"praying mantises dabble in the femme fatale arts as well. Mama mantises lay an especially large bunch of eggs, which means they need a lot of food. Which means, unfortunately for their partners, they may literally bite off their head and devour them. And they may even do this during the course of their three-hour mating session. A little bit of coital cannibalism may also add to the success of the copulation. Hey, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do..." (how rude  )

One of the neighbors up the street was telling me that she doesn't like crape myrtle cause they are messy or messy looking...something like that. Don't necessarily disagree, but have not found anything to equal the beautiful, colorful, & what I consider striking blooms. I think they're going to get a hair cut this winter. That's the plan anyway, especially the large pink one. Hope I don't butcher it, but definitely outgrowing its spot in the flowerbed.

Haven't taken a pic of my portable veggie/strawberry garden yet this season. Only 2 tomatoes so far + 5 really nice bush cucumbers (what a treat).

Soccermom: I share what I've got to share. Seems like the same ol stuff sometimes. The only new thing is Chloe's buggy, but I will say it is one of the best purchases I have made! QOL, more flexibility & to some extent, "freedom" for both of us, rain or shine. My only regret is waiting too long. Kicking myself for not getting it two years ago. Highly recommend for anyone w/an aging canine. This particular company has now made a stroller to accommodate larger senior dogs.
However even w/younger dogs like Peanut's little Fonzie, you can take them more places w/you vs leaving them home.

Was wondering what happened to you Lee. Been thinking the last few days that you kinda inspired some of us to come back from forum sabbatical & then disappeared   Hope it was nothing too serious w/your DH.

So per your request here are a few more taken today:

Chloe & I headed down by the river again today as she has been cooped up in the house the last couple of days (my bad). Ran into 3 other dog walkers (4 dogs in all) & afraid as much time was spent talking as walking, but still managed to get our short walk in. She enjoyed it. :) The river is down the bank to the left & there is a path that goes down there, but too steep for me. There's other river access around town, but she doesn't like the water anyway & this easy w/the shaded sidewalk (path).

Image

Portable garden on wheels ( :P ) this year. Not quite as much as last year.

One of the strawberry planters:

Picked five bush cucumbers the other day; two left. The rest I picked this evening. The first of the peppers here I picked small, but I'm hungry. Same w/the tomato. The tomato in the pic is only the 3rd one. No zucchini yet, tomatoes are slow & of course, once again I planted late.

Image

Now I'm going to go clean this stuff & eat some dinner  yummy :D

You garden vegetables look very tasty BS, and the strawberries do also. I've always liked crepe myrtles. You get such vibrant color in the hot months when it's rare for the more common flowers to bloom. I agree that the blooms are striking. I've been naturally fermenting hot sauce with peppers from the farmers market. May post a pic of that in the future.

Todays pic is featuring my piano. It's a pre-1900 Steinway model B. It has recently returned from a trip to the factory in NY for refurbishing, new soundboard etc. He's happy to be back home, and is sounding better than ever, and for the record, I do play, although how well is up for debate.

BREAKING NEWS!!

The decision has been made, and we are getting Chalupa! One week from today. Can't wait.

Judging from the size of those ears, probably won't be hard of hearing.

In that case mob, how about a story? (nice try)

And btw, where is that Stu?

Great news peanut!!! FINALLY gonna get your new baby girl. Do I see a double stroller in your future :?:  Oh she's definitely not going to be hard of hearing & that Fonzie may be under new management
Your piano is a beautiful piece & glad you actually play it (chopsticks doesn't count). But I now believe we need a closeup front view as well!

BTW, peanut, I did buy some of that Kerrygold Pure Irish butter. It's tasty enough, too soft @ room temperature, still spreadable right out of the refrigerator (Amish Roll butter is not), however it will not replace the Amish Roll butter for flavor @ my house.

Sometimes when I buy Costco hamburger I will make up a batch of meatloaf-ready hamburger then pop it in the freezer all prepared. Take it out of the freezer, shape into a loaf & in the oven it goes. My son was supposed to come help me on a small outdoor project yesterday, however he couldn't seem to get rid of a headache. I had taken out the pre-prepared meatloaf meat, added a bit of rice & shaped them into what they call "porcupine balls" (meatballs) & baked them on the broiler pan in the oven. Also took out some bbq sauce I had made & frozen, put it in the crockpot & the meatballs, cooked up some rice & delivered dinner to my son. He was sure glad to get it. Guess what's for dinner tonight? Yep, you guessed it. (both houses)

So there's my story. OK, I'm done now.
