Positive Cologuard testing?

I have a close friend that tested positive for the cologuard test. She does not like doctors and was to scared to go for a colonoscopy. Her GP finally got her to take the Cologuard test, which came back positive. Now she is in a panic and is scheduled for a colonoscopy on July 2nd. The doctor said that just because it came back positive, it does not mean that she has cancer. Cologuard is suppose to have a 92% accurancy rate? Do any of you know of people that took the Cologuard test, which came back positive and the outcome? You would think that after what I went through, she would have run for a colonoscopy 4 years ago!

Any information would be appreciated....

Beckster, my husband (who is the one with CRC stage IV) has a sister who recently experienced the exact same thing. No symptoms but (due to age and brother with CRC) she took a test like Cologuard (don’t know the the name of the test she took - but it was positive for blood in faeces). She had the colonoscopy and everything came back clean (no hemorrhoid seen either) apart from 3 polyps that was removed - the doctor told her he was sure (due to how they looked) that it would be fine. Hubby & I have not heard anything about the pathology report yet but if it had been bad news we would have heard. This was approximately 2-3 weeks ago.
I hope your friend’s test will be OK!

Thanks for the info LPL! Cologuard tests DNA, so I wonder if it is the type of test.

This is how my cancer was found. I had seen blood a couple times on my stool but not often. I was sure it was my hemorrhoids. My doctor gave me the test and it was positive. The sample I made sure the sample I sent in did not have any visible blood. I had a clean colonoscopy 5 years before. I was immediately referred to a GI and scheduled a colonoscopy. Came back stage 2A rectal cancer. I was told it had probably been there 5 years and my previous colonoscopy either missed it because it was too small or just began forming right after. That was 4 years ago and I have been NED for over 3 1/2 years.

Thanks for posting that link. I forwarded it to my youngest brother who tested positive for cancer recently and he just got back to me with a "that was a much better explaination than the Dr gave him. He is getting a scope the 27th June. Hoping he isn't going to join this club.:(
