upcoming colonoscopy and other things

My bowel prep is Monday next week and the colonoscopy is scheduled for Tuesday morning. I'm her second appointment of the day. Crossing my fingers hard that everything looks great in there. I had a near blockage last time they went in to take a look, and they couldn't get past the sigmoid area.

Also, I forgot to mention: A couple of weeks ago I participated in the local 6k. Last year I had completed the 2018 6k just 2 weeks before going into the ER and being diagnosed with colon cancer. I had walked a lot of the way last time and I was mystified that I felt so terrible and wasn't running more. Well, that much makes a lot more sense in hindsight. Good news: I knocked 10 minutes off my time from last year! And that's despite only training once a week on average for the past few months. Completed the 6k in about 46 minutes this time, so my overall pace was very good for me. I didn't run the whole way, but I ran a lot, for longer, and felt good about my pace.

I am not a very dedicated runner but I'm so pleased to be making progress and getting better. :)

I don't tend to be very anxious, but I am nervous about this colonoscopy next week. I hope everything looks good.

(edited to correct my total time, whoops)

Damn, look at you go!!

I was looking at my medal rack not long ago and realized every single race I finished was with cancer. It was then that I decided to order another one for all of my cancer free races that I will be finishing.

Important question: what was in your swag bag? Good shirt? Finisher's medal? PR for that distance?

I'll be looking for your all clear update :D

haha derp, I made a mistake on my time in my OP; took me 46 minutes. Strava says I got 10 achievements for that run, including my best estimated 5k at 38:24.

Colonoscopy looks good! Healthy tissue, no polyps, and only one diverticule despite an early CT scan (before surgery) indicating pan-colonic diverticulosis. Not sure if it looked that way because of the near-blockage I had with the tumor, or what. My surgeon said that it's possible she took out some diverticules when she removed that 10" of my colon. The surgery site looks good. They gave me copies of the photos taken, which is kinda cool.

Whew. I'm so relieved that I don't have anything else going on in there. Now I just have to hope the CT scans don't find anything alarming moving forward. My next one of those is in July.
