First Scan Since Completing Treatment

Postby Jlschueler » Thu May 02, 2019 10:26 am

Hey all, I finished my second round of chemo March 15th, and had my first CT scan yesterday. I find out the results tomorrow, and am so nervous! I had a CT scan in October for a surgery related issue and it did not show any new masses or metastases. Has anyone had their first scan come back with new metastases?

06/18-Dx Rectal Cancer
10/18 Surgery-stage IIIC
03/19 Finished 5-FU

Hi J. I had colon vs. rectal, so unlike you I did not have any scans during treatment, only after. However, it's very natural to be nervous. Even now, when I'm 3 years post-treatment, I still get what we call "scanxiety" as badly as I ever did. It's just part of the journey. My BP is usually up until I can get results. I even developed white coat syndrome thanks to the nerve-wracking adventure that is cancer treatment. Try not to let anticipation of what might be weigh on you too heavily. We have enough to worry about with what we know. :)

Smiles, hugs and prayers that your scans come back looking positive.
