Chemo pushed back twice, so I'm doing another half.

I was supposed to start my first round of chemo two weeks ago. Due to not having a CT, that got pushed back to this week.

Go in ready to get started this week, to find out there was no treatment plan/orders for chemo. Doctor tries to push it through but the insurance needs all the drugs pre certified. Come back tomorrow they tell me! Uh, no. I didn't drive two hours, wait for an hour and a half for labs and another half hour to see the doctor to drive home 2 hours to come back and do it again the next day.

So I said F it and registered for a local half marathon this Saturday.

I had originally written this one off, thinking that I would have already started treatment and with not knowing how the first round was going to have me feeling, seemed silly to attempt it.

Not now yall. I'll have another medal on the wall Saturday afternoon and will try for the third time to get chemo going next Tuesday!

haha good for you! I hope your race results make you super proud. :)

Sucks about the chemo getting delayed. I hope the next time you go in they'll be ready for you. What a hassle.

Are you on Medicare? Good luck on the run, wish I could still do it!

Not on Medicare! Going to a university hospital that has just had some communication errors. I'm pleased with my care, just annoyed that all the moving parts aren't quite working together.

It wouldn't be nearly as obnoxious if we lived closer. It's such a production to plan after school pick ups, child care, etc. But I guess that's my fault for having 8 kids and living in the middle of nowhere.

Omfg. Dude. I read that while enjoying a slice of lemon cake and coffee for breakfast. I almost lost it all over my phone!!

That would have been tragic, because it's a delicious cake.

At any rate, I think you're fabulous CRguy. You made my morning.

I have not commented on your prior posts as I am not a cancer patient and so tend to comment only on areas where my ileostomy and ostomy experience is appropriate.

But you are nothing short of amazing. A-m-a-z-i-n-g.

Your personal Finish Lines include a recent pregnancy and welcoming of Nicholas into the world. And several 5 and 10 K races since you have been a member of this forum.

I am a former marathon-distance runner. Running was my personal oxygen. One foot in front of her other. Repeat. I honestly feel that running gave me a focus of mind and physical resiliency that has aided in my perseverance despite frail health.

Sending you best wishes in the upcoming half-marathon. My you find that centering “in the zone” place within yourself that a good run brings us to.

You truly are an example of all things possible.

You are incredibly kind! Packet pick up is this afternoon during the expo. What's your favorite color? I'll pick up a new pair of race socks and wear them in your honor tomorrow. :D

I looked at my finish line photos...I looked...intense. I ran intervals for most of the race, since I haven't done anything resembling training in quite some time. But as soon as I turned the corner and saw the finish line, i picked up the pace and then just sprinted down the final stretch.

I left it all on the course, there was nothing more in my tank. Just the way it should be!

Oh!! I shaved just under 40 minutes off of my time from the half in February!

Well, he's 6 weeks old now, so it's been a little bit! My race day recovery was much faster than the one I did when I was 33 weeks pregnant with him. It's amazing how much easier things are without another person living inside your midsection!
