For my dad, the bilirubin was found to have normalised. Just worried about the ascites now.

This morning we saw the oncologist. Based on the hospital records, the recent weight gain is not as drastic about 1.5kg rather than 3kg. Differences in scale I suppose. In Ang case, he sent my dad for another ultrasound and we will get to know the results tomorrow. He didn’t seem worried as physical examination did not show anything and he has no symptoms.

Will update again.

Dear all, thought to update that the ultrasound showed consistent findings with the earlier CT, mild ascites. It seems to be stable.
They also found increased echo of the liver and dilated hepatic vein which I understand can be related to fatty liver.

We are off to the UK tomorrow night but after we return we have an appointment with the liver specialist. I hope this liver thing is not that serious...

Hi everyone, just to give an update that we are coming to the last leg of the UK trip and my dad is still doing all right. No significant signs that ascites is progressing.

I also updated our signature- you can see that his situation while less complicated for the colon cancer part, he had multiple heart and other issues, all serious and he still came out ok (for now). For instance right up to the Resection surgery, he had a mysterious fever. They decided to proceed anyway while drawing cultures. Post resection, they tell us it’s the worst case scenario and it’s infection of the artificial heart valve he got in 2004 (endocarditis). As he’s allergic to cefazolin, the best antibiotics for it, he has to to have 6 weeks of another 2 IV antibiotics which also trashed his kidney to this day.

Just before his 2nd aortic valve surgery, he was admitted in hospital for serious prostate infection which was so bad it caused him to be delirious. He was treated via IV antibiotics, and he was cleared for the valve surgery.

He just passed the 5 year mark for his Stage 3b cancer in March this year.

He’s a survivor and I’m so proud of him.

Just to share for those who might have heart issues as well as CC.

Hi, posting an update in case there are others worrying about mild ascites.

My dad has his 6 monthly CT scan and the ascites has reduced to almost negligible. There are no signs of peritoneal spread (thank God!). They still want us to check his liver for any cirrhosis but for now, I’m Glad that recurrence doesn’t appear to be the reason for the ascites.
