Things look good at the moment

Postby Jannine » Fri Apr 19, 2019 7:20 am

I haven't been as active around here since I completed chemo, but here's an update.

Had my 2nd round of blood work this week, after completing chemo in December. CEA is 1.8, the same it was in January. My white blood cell count is still a bit low, but not outrageously so.

I will be getting a colonoscopy in May; my first one after surgery. Oncologist said if that looks good I won't need another for 3 years. We'll see how my gut looks; they could not get in there to look when I had the one last year that discovered the tumor, because it was a near-blockage. If anything looks suspect or if I have a lot of polyps, I'll want to reconsider waiting 3 years.

Next CT scan is in July, 6 months after the clean one I had in January.

I'm running once or twice a week, slowly getting faster and running with fewer walk-breaks. Not having any abdominal pain, although I do have a very small hernia that sometimes gives me twinges. I'm sitting less and feeling good about how things are going. Crossing my fingers and hoping that the colonoscopy looks good, too.
DX: sigmoid colon cancer 5/2018. 48 F
laparoscopic sigmoid resection (24 cm removed); no stoma.

7/18: CEA 1.9; added neulasta post infusion
9/18: CEA 2.8
10/18: 25% chemo reduction
11/18: CEA 1.8
7/19 CT scan clear
