Immunotherapy and high triglyceride level

Postby FindTheBestHelp » Wed Apr 17, 2019 2:08 pm

Has anyone here gotten blood work done ahead of their first or subsequent immunotherapy infusion appointments and been told that their triglyceride level was too high to proceed with the infusion?

Just got blood work back a day ago and the infusion department called and said the triglyceride level was way too high. The high end is considered around 400-ish, and the test result came back 900-ish. No fasting was requested nor done before the blood tests - should fasting have been done X hours before the blood test?

The PCP has said before that high cholesterol was a concern and to go on cholesterol medication like crestor or Lipitor. Didn't start taking that yet but hear that statins like those don't necessarily significantly lower triglyceride levels specifically. Didn't start on it yet due to news shortly after that about becoming stage iv for colon cancer that metastasized to the rectum area and most of the attention moved to what would be the best immunotherapy option to go with.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has had an infusion treatment canceled due to high triglyceride levels and what was done about it. Thanks.
