New member - 7cm Polyp???

Postby kerry8528 » Sun Mar 17, 2019 12:34 pm

Hi all,

I'm a new member. I've been having some unpleasant symptoms for around a year. I've put off going to the doctor - made appointments and then cancelled - during that time out of fear. Finally bit the bullet, and had a colonoscopy yesterday.

The doctor informed me that I have a 'massive' 7cm polyp in my bowel that he was unable to remove. He has sent a sample off for biopsy, and my case is going to the 'team' for discussion as their next meeting.

Just wanted to see if anyone here has experienced similar, or can give me an idea of what to expect going forward.

Thank you all! x

Welcome, and sorry for the reason you are here.

That is certainly not the largest polyp that has been found in this group, but it is large. Definitely read through anything that looks relevant on this forum and learn; there is a lot to know, and waiting on tests to find out what is going on is rough. We have all been there and know what you are going through.

My tumor was 7.5cm. My signature has the specifics, and I started a thread with my treatment and side effect specifics, as well; check my posts for details. If it can't be removed in a colonoscopy you will need surgery to remove it. My surgery was laparoscopic and wasn't hard on me, but I was otherwise quite healthy. If you do need surgery you'll learn more about what happens next after surgery is complete. Look for a board-certified colorectal surgeon, ideally at a major cancer center. Ask questions and make sure you get CEA and any other informative bloodwork done BEFORE surgery.

We are rooting for you.
DX: sigmoid colon cancer 5/2018. 48 F
laparoscopic sigmoid resection (24 cm removed); no stoma.
7.5cm adenocarcinoma -- mod. diff.
1 noncontiguous tumor deposit removed; 0/31 lymph nodes
T3 pN1c M0
5/18 before surgery, CEA 11.2
6/18 began FOLFOX
7/18: CEA 1.9; added neulasta post infusion
9/18: CEA 2.8
10/18: 25% chemo reduction
11/18: CEA 1.8
7/19 CT scan clear
