Symptoms - Worry about it

Postby stribor45 » Thu Feb 21, 2019 10:12 am

I am 50 years old healthy male. Since I am at the "milestone" age my doctor recently suggested for me to get all blood work done and colonoscopy. I don't have family history of colon cancer and I have no symptoms.
I do however have stool which looks normal expect that it looks like one side is flat. (almost shaped like letter D). I do strain when i go to bathroom and i go every day like clock work after my coffee in the morning. Also I don't ever remember having poop that looks "normal" (sausage or banana shape) even when I was 20 years old. From what I remember my poop looks same now as it was ever. I guess the reason I am writing this is because I been looking things up online and everywhere i looked it says that flat (ribbon like shape) is definitely not good thing. Can anyone share their experiences, thought etc.

Thanks

We are not doctors and neither is google. For a proper diagnosis, you need to contact your doctor and address your concerns with him/her. Could be something or it could be nothing. Only a colonoscopy will tell for sure. But we are not qualified to speculate on your situation as we are not doctors. Best of luck.

I can only offer my personal experience.....Turned 50.....no colon cancer in my family, no symptoms, prestine blood work....so I waited until I was 57. Hello Colon Cancer! March is Colon Cancer awareness month...get your rear in gear and get screened. If I had gone when I turned 50, I would not have ended up with stage 2 CC. The prep is not as bad as many say and if they find no polyps, you are good for 10 years. Go for your screening!
