CA 19-9

Happy Wednesday everyone! My CA 19-9 is tested monthly. It was originally 180, then 60 after a few rounds of chemo. Now it’s jumped to 92(over 35 is high). I have my scans on March 4th and will find out if things are stable or growing.

In the meantime I was just wondering if you watch CA 19-9 for a trend like CEA (mine has never been over 3) before you worry? I’m wondering if my current FOLFIRI regime might not be working any longer.

Just seeing if anyone had a similar experience. Thanks!

CA199 is subject to greater rises during chemo because of the cumulative chemo damage. I don't have personal Folfiri insights. What is your MCV series doing compared to last time on Folfox ? (MCV CEA CA199 time series?) The blood data on Folfiri is subject to a lot more cumulative noise and your oncologist may focus on basics like RBC-WBC-platelets and wait for the scan once the CA199 and CEA go wild on chemo.
