Ran 5, 10K's and half marathons and was training for a marathon when she was diagnosed. The fatigue from Chemo ended her running. She tried to do a 10 K trail run about 7 months after her resection and between rounds of FolFox plus Avastin, but the trails were much more brutal than she thought they would be and she had to pull the plug at the 5K mark. After that she never ran again. I think this was probably the lowest part of her life prior to the end. Still; she remained active just no longer a runner. Ran and trained her dogs, rode her horse and judged field trial events to within a few of weeks of her passing.

GrouseMan, I wish I had meet your wife. It sounds as she was a wonderful person! Every time you have talked about her I have wanted to say that. Finally I said it now! Warm hugs & Thank you for staying here on ColonClub, helping us ’on the journey’ (as CRguy says).

I wish I had the eloquence and grace to convey my feelings after reading about your wife.

Since I don't, I'll just tell you that she sounds like an amazing woman and I would have been a better person for having known her. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance.

Yes. Yes you can. I believe in you. :D

I signed up for a race series, I need to complete 7 more half marathons between now and the end of next year. I'm hoping to be able to complete my next one this September, but have zero idea what to expect with chemo and possibly a liver resection. No clue if it would be open or not.

Thanks for the positive thoughts! based on your record so far, I believe in your ability to power through your series :!: :!:
